A man in a dark suit will approach you under the clock at the station. He will ask you whether the fish are jumping, you will reply that there are elephants in the cheesecake. No more will be said, you will receive word three to five working days later.

If you're going to be working with large quantities of images, it's time to get the right tool for the job. A proper image manipulation program like photoshop can batch process many images in one go, and can for sure do what you need. There are also some free or cheaper alternatives you could try. The GIMP might be able to do it, I'm pretty sure imageJ can, also I am not sure if Photoshop elements can do batch processing but I have done similar things with graphicconverter.

I can't seem to wake my 2010 15" MBP from sleep with the trackpad using Lion DP2. I have to press the keypad.
Anyone else having the same problem? Is this normal? Any fixes?
thanks
A tap of the trackpad wakes mine. A fix would be to press the keyboard like you have found out :) and file a bug report.

ahh darn. i was hoping you were going to say you hated your new mac. having bought pc notebooks, macbooks, mac book pro's i can say a similar spec'd machine is not a whole lot more money when you step up to a mac. no way a comparable mac is 1000 more than a pc. perhaps a gold plated mpb.

Is this an inside joke or something? Cause I sure as heck don't get it...
Ugh - Make them go away!
There was a thread on these blue/green guys when they first started popping up at macrumors.com.
I think iGary started that one too. I am one of those who was and is still annoyed by them...

You can probably get that to work, but you can't us Boot Camp Assistant to get you started. You will have to create a FAT32 partition in Disk Utility and then use that as a target for your Windows install.
Which versions of Windows are supported on your Mac will depend on which Mac it is so you may want to tell us.
The main difference between doing it this way and Boot Camp Assistant, is that BCA sets the default boot to the Windows partition, you will need to hold Alt/Option every time you boot when the Windows installer wants a reboot.
B
Okay yep I understand, however will my Mac recognise the install CD when I boot to the empty Windows partition?
Are you using VirtualBox? Or something else?
Not currently using anything to partition, just disk utility.

There's gotta be some sort of newer solution than OggDrop for this purpose, or if there isn't, surely an AppleScript can be created to automate this task. I have the Ogg components for QuickTime installed, as well as QuickTime 7 Pro. I've tested the export function in QuickTime also, which works perfectly - creating a nice Ogg Vorbis file. Surely there's a way to automate a mass-convert job of over 12,000 files using this approach... Google searches have proved fruitless.
Can't you just use iTunes to do this? Change preferences to use Ogg for importing music, then select everything and convert to Ogg. Or doesn't that work?

I was thinking of buying an iPod nano online from the Apple store.
The thing is that I never bought an Apple product online before.
I want to know exactly how a credit card charge on the Apple store breaks down; if there are hidden fees, etc.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I and I'm sure everyone else who has used Apple's Online Store received very detailed invoices for the order I placed, with no discrepancies WRT the amount put on my credit card.

mods, please lock this thread. the box got wet in shipping and the motherboard got damaged, It was partially my fault, and partially UPS's fault, I'm sorry for this incident, but mxlews and I have worked it out, the iMac is no longer for sale or trade.

I agree on the $50 figure. The 170 is a fantastic machine, but like a lot of other Macs, aren't nearly as valuable as people seem to think they are. Unless you have a prototype, it usually takes a mint machine with original packaging to really get the price to eye opening levels.

Get the white one.
You will easily be able to set up an Austrian account using fake info and getting PSN cards for that country. However, if you're just going to set up the one account, may I suggest an American one as the US PSN Store has a much greater choice of PSP and PSone games. You'll just need to find some kind soul who can purchase US PSN cards on your behalf and email you the codes.
:apple:
Edit: Just remembered that the 10 free games thing is Europe only. I think you only get 3 free games with a US account. Bugger.

Hey guys,
After problem x 1,000,000 of trying to get pro tools 8 running on my PC ive got a macbook!
I was wondering what external HD requirements are like on a macbook for pro tools?
Only having 2 USB sockets and no firewire what do you suggest?
Are USB HD's possible to record too?
Thanks guys,
Dan

That is false information (as 300D would say ;) :p :D)
2TB is limit of APM, not PPC. AFAIK SATA controller doesn't have a drive size limit.
Over 2TB you need to use GPT. Any OS X up from 10.4.6 is able to partition, mount, read and write GUID. No matter if it's on PPC or Intel Mac. PPC won't only boot off GPT partition.
OP, you should be able to use 3TB HDD in G5 for all but booting purposes (i.e. storage, backup, scratch etc) in OS X 10.4.6 + or 10.5.
oh... FIXED!

I'm planing on buying my first mac computer. I have used them allot in the past so I know them well. I'm 16 and have been saving for the past year. But I can't choose between the MacBook pro and iMac. I would use it for editing photos movies and music but I think ether could do that well. I do play some games like left 4 dead and hl2. I would like to take my computer away with me when we go away but that's only every few months. Apart from that my computer as it is stays where it is. SO what do you think. I need a opinion

I just received my iPad 2 in the mail yesterday. I have an original iPad which I have given to my wife. I set up my new iPad from a backup from my original iPad and everything worked fine except 3G. I was unable to set up a 3G account with AT&T because there was no cell number assigned to my new iPad 2.
I thought it was operator error so I restored the iPad 2 and set it up as a new iPad. Same problem. When I look under general settings>about>cellular number it says unknown. Is it possible Apple never assigned a cellular number to my new iPad 2? Anyone else have this problem? Called AT&T and they were no help. I have a genius bar appointment this afternoon, but would like to be able to fix this myself. Please help!

Does TinyUmbrella actually see your iPad? Or does TinyUmbrella fail to see it? If it fails to actually see the iPad then you have a chance that the original owner might have saved the SHSH blobs, if they were not saved then you are out of luck.
Yes it sees the ipad and lets me use kick out of recovery, fix recovery and save shsh blobs with no results though. I'm upgrading now :P

Says RS/6000.
yeah, but so what?
afaik rs/6000 was a server line at ibm which was rebranded the pSeries some two years ago...but they did/do use ppc processors of various flavors.
what i see from this message is that this patch enables altivec support on the powerpc64 target of the linux64 build of gcc, so if you happen to have a 64-bit powerpc with altivec, try to compile it on your box.
anyway, this might be completly wrong, just trying to show my pov.
