A great point there. Many folks argue that using a phone while driving (texting, talking, or surfing) is comparable to a BAC of .08 at least. I'm not familiar with Trapster et al, but if safety really is the main goal, perhaps we focus on stopping cell phone usage behind the wheel?
Am I way off here? Is the worry about Trapster just that drivers can load the checkpoints before they start driving and then avoid them?

Erm... that is wrong. All major Hollywood DVDs are encoded as progressive full frames at 23.976fps. The interlacing you are seeing is the result of adding pulldown frames to pad it out to 29.97 interlaced for NTSC.
Not correct. Most Hollywood movies are encoded as interlaced and then pressed to dvd, just to be sure that all tv-sets (old and new) are able to display the content. If all film dvd:s were to be encoded as progressive, we wouldn't need all these more or less expensive deinterlacers in digital display systems (progressive in nature) and video sources. And also, we would need interlacers in all analogue displays (interlaced in nature)...not realistic.

I'm still loving mine too :) I did, however, just put it up for sale on CL though. Just to see if I get any bites. I'm not going to worry if I do or don't sell it though. It's still an amazing machine

Wow, the dual screen output is what could some day push me over the edge. A 27" display + 2 27" Apple screens either side sounds pretty nice. Still not enough to make me part with my 30" ACD right now though.
You do realize you can do almost the same thing (not sure about resolutions) with USB2 displaylink adapters?
My lowly 2007 Santa Rosa MBP can handle this fine with one 22" monitor using the old EVGA UVPlus... I even run it over a hub that also does keyboard, mouse and iphone cradle. Slight delay, no stutter, nothing. videos play fine (never tried full screen, but it's my work computer, so no need for that).

File size wouldn't affect performance at all, as long as you're copying between locations on the same drive. The "file" that you see in the GUI is actually a link to a location on disk where your data is; all the OS has to move is the link, which is very tiny.

As I said, my being unsure stemmed from windows that would sometimes come up in older versions of Photoshop, when closing, that mentioned clipboard sizes being too large. Did you read the post? iTunes doesn't do that, right now apple doesn't have an airport with *video* output. And look at the picture again, that mockup has a remote that talks to the airport, you don't have to leave the room.
You miss the whole point of this. Why would you want to have an expensive box next to the TV when you could just have a tiny airport, and let your computer do the heavy lifting from another room?

Someone needs to bookmark this thread so we can come back to it in 2015. If there's a new CEO (or group of CEO's) for Apple and Nokia/MS have a brilliant partnership, I don't see where the humor is. Four years is a hell of a long time for a new OS to mature.

I can't think of a good reason to stream strictly audio to multiple computers, even if each is connected to speakers. Seems very clumsy to me, and you'd be better off getting an Airport Express ($69 refurbished (http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB321LL/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY)) for each speaker system or getting AirPlay-supported speakers.
WiFi2HiFi (http://www.wifi2hifi.com) takes the AirTunes idea beyond iTunes, however, it's only to an iDevice, not a computer.

In any event, unless it's HD (720p is fine) I'm not interested. For that matter, when they give me Lost in HD (and a good way to get it to my TV) I'll check out the TV shows.
I would love that too, but im not convinced its feasible. 720p movie trailer downloads account roughly to 50mb for every minute. therefore, a 120min feature film would equal to 6GB. thats a lot of bandwidth, and the shoddy superdrives in current macbooks are only single-layer (grunf!).
But if its real, and they manage it for ~$14, man, ill start (re)building my movie collection! dont really care for 1080p (actually, i do, but then 12gb per film is just too much for me to bother downloading)
i guess if thats the case, 160gb 2.5" sata hds will be the absolute bare minimum, plus a stationary external hd with some 500+gb to cope with the new digital library AND time machine

There is absolutely no advantage whatsoever in having USB survive past 2.0 at this point. With 3.0 barely entering the market, there is no value in letting it get a foothold. It is pathetically obsolete compared to TB.

Indeed! I'm amazed and utterly disappointed that people have vote "positive" on this one. First, I question the relevance of posting an attempted robbery, and resulting death, that occurred in a mall, after hours. Is it really Mac news and information? Granted, it took place at an Apple store, but still. But how people on here could not think it's a bad thing, what just happened occured, is beyond me. One might argue that it was better one of the douchey thiefs die than somebody's loved one during store hours (or something along those lines), but that's ALWAYS the case/what we hope for. Either way, somebody died needlessly, and this security guard is going to face some pretty heavy psychological ramifications. NOT good things. Wow.

As much as I love rumors approximating nearer and nearer some state of acuity, actually seeing the product a day ahead is a tad disspaointing. It reminds me of the late night when Time Canada unveiled the G4 iMac. Well it'll still be fun to watch me Opie tomorrow, especially since she's promoting iPods over the Dell Ditty she did a couple years back.

It doesn't look comfortable unless you use a hands-free device, and it seems as if all kinds of fingerprints, dust and dirt, and muck would show up way too easy on its' surface. I think the big problem with rentals is that Netflix has it wrapped up right now. You can get a ton of movies for a monthly fee, and I don't see any way an online service can compete with that, at least not without losing money on it.
If you know your best effort won't compare well to Netflix, does it really make sense to try and do it anyway? Or is it smarter just to stay out of such a cutthroat marketplace?
