Microcenter has the 2011 13" i5 model on sale for $999 plus tax. You can't beat that deal (assuming you have a Microcenter nearby).

Some websites I've visited have a series of links at the top of the page labeled A-B-C-D all the way to Z. This really does make it easier to browse through long lists.

Haha not a long winded post at all man, I thought it was pretty short for a first post :)
I got mine about a month ago and stayed up all night and the entire next day messing with it, installing programs, and just testing everything out.
I have a black MacBook however, so although i don't have the glass trackpad (static w/ button) I am running 10.6.7 so I have all of the features.
You should definitely get used to the keyboard commands though, they make everything that much more streamlined and smooth; I'm a college student and I can get so much more done on my Mac than I could with my Windows PC.

install on the Mini, then carbon copy cloner to the Xserve.
then to keep it legal, delete it from the mini.

Currently, I have two Airport Express base stations acting as repeaters for the main Linksys router. I can roam from Airport to Airport fine, but can't do this once connected to the Linksys.
I am considering getting an Airport Extreme to replace the Linksys router, but I have two questions.
1. Will roaming work throughout the house perfectly if I switch to an Airport Extreme as the main router?
2. How do you go about setting this kind of system up? I believe it's similar to a WDS, but I want to use Ethernet on each base station because I can and it will be faster than relying on wireless.

yeah I know! where do you DL games for it though? and do you think it'd work with OS X? at least for sending music/games to it?
Downloading games or ROM files for this video game system is technically illegal, unless they are home-brewed, and should not be discussed here. The device should work with Mac OS X since it mounts as a USB drive.

So waloshin creates a thread with a digg post that is actually his blog about the price of games aka attempting to drive traffic to his blog....
Got it
I too do not think it will change from what the prices have typically been at.

OS 9 question, if someone can help:
When I boot into OS 9, it goes through it's paces all the way up to the Finder, then it sits there frozen, waiting to connect to a network volume. I'm talking like 2-3 minutes wait, in the meantime I can't do anything. Is there any way to avoid this? Needless to say it's really annoying and I disconnect any network volumes before restarting/shutting down.

Processor speed? Box? Discs? Manuals?
Thanks...
Hah... sorry guys. 1.0 GHZ. Combo drive. no box, i think I can find the discs, no manuals.
For what it's worth, it's been used by one owner, and I've personally taken care of the machine whenever it's needed anything.

Safe as long as you accept the consequences. Let's leave it at that.
No, it's not safe. Just because someone accepts the consequences doesn't make it safe.

What plug to you have on the end of the air? If you're not using the 3 prong one, you're not grounded. That might be the source of your noice, if the usb box is usb powered.
What's truly bizarre is I get this whether or not the Air is plugged into AC or running on battery so it isn't about a grounded plug.

I bought a used 1.33 15" PB about two weeks ago, got it late last week, and am just getting around to checking it out. 10's a big difference from 9.1 (to say nothing of the upgrade from a 6400). Anyway, the sytem's got the previous owner's information in it - all her settings, etc. I emailed her for her password (haven't heard back yet), but then I thought it might be better to simply clean install from the system disks and start w/ a fresh drive. There's nothing on the machine I need that I don't have backed up already; is there any reason not to proceed w/ a clean install?

Nothing definitive has been announced. It seems like it has been more of a toy for Apple than anything serious so I wouldn't depend on it long term. I've never liked it personally.

Hey guys,
Have a 2011 i5 with upgraded 8GB of RAM and Optibay'd SSD with a 1TB in the HDD bay.
I've noticed some problems over the past few weeks that mostly involve the screen and am not sure if they are related. First, is gray boxes inside the twitter app. It's hard to describe, but I grabbed a screenshot and it looks like this:
http://i.imgur.com/8AGbP.png
This only happens in the twitter app, and usually flickers while scrolling. It also doesn't happen all of the time just occasionally.
On to the second problem. This one I can not get a screen shot of and it has only happened twice (and rather randomly). The entire screen has gray lines (horizontal) and there are also green and maybe red, though I don't remember if the red were there. When this happens, the only way to solve the problem is to hard reboot it as everything becomes frozen.
Another problem, which may be unrelated is a kernel panic. I have had only one, and it was after I rebooted from the second problem.
It's hard to search for what these problems are as I'm not too sure how to describe them, but I am concerned it could be a logic board problem. Could anyone shed some light on this?
