Greg Giraldo died today, four days after being hospitalized following an accidental overdose of prescription medication. He was 44.
The news was first reported by fellow comic and longtime friend Jim Norton, who tweeted a photo of the two and the message, "RIP Buddy."
That was followed by a message from The Improv comedy club: "R.I.P. Greg Giraldo ... - One of the funniest MFers every to grace a comedy stage! Will be missed by all. So sad."
He was funny. Definitely better than most of the comedians out there nowadays.

- improved file sharing and directory services for mixed Mac and PC networks
Welll i use PC & Mac at home. and after taking this update on the mac, i tried to transfer a 100meg file today, and it wasn't moving fast at all!
Now im using a wireless network with the mac, but 40min to move 100megs? Its normaly alot faster then that, and this has happened after this update.
I have searched a couple post on the site regarding .8 update, however did not see anything regarding my problem.
Can anyone shed some light?

Is that thru USB or Wifi?
Why not try another way of connecting your Mac? You have 3 options, Wifi, Bluetooth and USB.
It's using wifi. I don't know how to get the USB option to work, and didn't even know that MyWi supported Bluetooth.

Hey guys!
I know it's not customary to make a thread as your first post, my apologies if this offends anyone :) but i'm seriously going insane :D
I have the following problem:
I'm trying to connect my imac to my ps3 wirelessly, to stream videos, music, pictures,... i've searched and searched on every corner of the interwebs but haven't found anything that works.
I tried medialink, yazsoft, vuze, pms, twonky, eyeconnect, you name it, I've tried it. I also checked my firewall, and it's turned off, I checked my router's settings, it says uPnP enabled, the mac is uPnP enabled, the ps3 is uPnP enabled, I set my iMac to share almost anything, so it's as open as a 5$ h**k*r (no offence ;) )
But still, with any 3d party software (like medialink etc,...) it can not find my ps3, the ps3 also never finds any media centre/device.
I've got the latest ps3 firmware & I'm running mac osx snow leopard.
So one thing i'm guessing is, with all the software I tried, could it be that those are all trying to kill eachother? Or what could it be? I've been trying for hours every night the past week.
I really hope someone can help.
(oh btw, the mac and ps3 are both using the same router wirelessly, and they can both go online)

I jailbroke my itouch a little bit ago with redsn0w and my current firmware is 3.1. I have the itouch 8gb that was released previously to the 4g model. So that's like what ... 3g/2g?
With redsn0w, it currently is a tethered jailbreak. So I would need pc to boot my itouch.
Is there any latest firmware that I can update to and still jailbreak. Also, preferably make it untethered? Thanks

I use Sun's VirtualBox (http://www.virtualbox.org/), it's free, and it works better than the other two IMO.

You can get at least a little more screen space by hiding the dock. If you right-click the dashed line to the right of the trash and select Dock Preferences, then check Automatically hide and show the Dock, the dock will drop off the screen when not in use. Then you can increase your browser to fill that extra space.

Okay, I've reached a stage when I'm starting to listen to music more and to fuel this new interest, I'm looking into building my up collection.
I've looked through some music and for some I cannot find the CDs for them. Either they're not licensed in the United States or they can't be found in stores. However some can be found on iTunes and file sharing sites.
Here is the dilemma being, if I were to buy a song on iTunes, and then I deleted the purchased song and downloaded the same song from a file sharing site, what would the legal issues here? Of course I'd be downloading lossless (the only reason I buy CDs in the first place).
And please don't make this a "Can you tell?" discussion, since I have reasonably good ears [along with good cans] and can tell the difference between lossless and lossy music.

yeah it looks like there was a transparent background and that at some point it got converted from a gif/png to a jpg and so, in the process of being rastorized, it looks pixelated. i'd go back to the original image with transparent background and re-export for web.

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro.
My drive sometimes won't read discs, I've used it so much. I want to buy a new drive. My question is, do I get a blu ray drive(not BR burner) or get a regular DVD burner, like a superdrive.
The price difference seems to be about $40-$50. What benefit is there to having a blu ray drive. I don't think I'll ever watch a br movie from there. And I dont think I'll want to rip BRs either
Thoughts? Advice?

If you do not think that you'll ever watch a blu ray movie or anything from the drive then buying a blu ray drive probably isnt worth your money. I have just one blu ray drive, a PS3, and I rarely use it.
