From http://blog.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/2006/08/followup_to_macbook_post.html

During the course of our interview, it came out that Apple had leaned on Maynor and Ellch pretty hard not to make this an issue about the Mac drivers -- mainly because Apple had not fixed the problem yet. Maynor acknowledged that he used a third-party wireless card in the demo so as not to draw attention to the flaw resident in Macbook drivers. But he also admitted that the same flaws were resident in the default Macbook wireless device drivers, and that those drivers were identically exploitable. And that is what I reported. end quote
Watch what you connect to!
NOT! Are you serious??? - some guy writes in his blog that Apple was leaning heavily on him not to point out the problems with apples drives. Wow - it's on the internet it must be true. Oh wait - it that were right I'd have a true video iPod, a PB G5, an iPhone, and a 12 GB Nano in my ownership right now.
Give me a break - it's a blog for crying out loud - it's about as accurate as MacOSRumors.
Also, as pointed out on page 3 (I think) - the latest security update fixes this vulnerability - even tho it's still a 3rd party USB driver and I don't believe for 1 second that he used a 3rd party card out of respect for apple's wishes...

Amazing, how many half-wits are out there!
There is a larger issue in Hewitt's statement, which seems to totally go over some people's heads.
And to the "Facebook sucks" crowd: may be so, but there are a lot more Facebook users, than iPhone users. So it's still important.
And really, over the last few years, my otherwise beloved Apple has turned into the George W. Bush of PC companies. Look at their newly found moral stance, regarding applications. Or their strong-arm tactics. Or the picking of wars not likely to be in their own interest - like the ones with Google, and Adobe.
Or, the fact, that the truly religious (and uninformed), blindly follow, no matter where.
very well put. it's the human condition commercialised. if only apple could step back and see itself for what it has become aside from very rich.

Thanks for the kind words! I've only been really shooting for a year so I've been trying to get out and shoot as much as possible. I try to post a bunch and get as much criticism as possible to help me improve. It's nice when someone really likes a shot!
That shot is fantastic. outstanding light, nice bokeh, beautiful subject!
Mine for today.
no worries man :) thats good, I've only really been shooting a year and a half but the amount of time I get to shoot is nothing! yeah that's the best thing to do, and posting here is a great way to get critique on your shots! haha well I did!
And thanks :D hope your not just saying that cause I like yours :p
Here is the EXIF data from the photo.
EXIF Summary: 1/3000s f/4.0 ISO160 200mm (35mm eq:401mm)
Camera-Specific Properties:
Equipment Make: OLYMPUS IMAGING CORP.
Camera Model: E-5
Edit: They make some nice lenses for that camera. Nice to see something that didn't turn out to be Nikon of Canon.

thanks, was on my dads computer so I couldn't look easily! cheers for that, interesting.. never really read into that camera, its a supposed 'professional one'.. interesting 35mm equivalent though, weird sensor size?

Forgot to mention this was the first shoot with my new speedlight. Decided to get one rather than upgrade to a fullframe (few more months :) ). Still loving this little Rebel XS.
duuude.. your photos have improved so much! I remember when you first started posting on here I wasn't too keen on your shots (if I'm going to be totally honest) but this is such a major improvement, that is such a damn nice shot! Nice work with the new flash, I really need to get one, shows what messing with light can do! did you bounce the flash off anything? what lens did you use? your getting fantastic shots out of that little camera man, I had one for a year before getting my t2i. Anyway, keep up the good work, your portraiture work is great :)
Olympus Zuiko 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 at f/4, about 50 yards away (it's a fair amount of crop)
I was knee deep in the water- the lens w/ body combo E-5 is weather sealed.Does well even with a 2x teleconverter, which on Olympus makes 400mm = 800mm in 35mm equivalent.. perfect surf setup imo. Here's one wide open with the t/c, original resolution after crop.

ah right, cool! seems like a good camera! I'm one of these devout canon people though :P as I said, interesting sensor size! good pics though :)
mine for today.. typical trees and sunset but I like it, nice view out of my dads window in Cheshire, UK. Shame about the crop but the foreground was a trampoline and some bushes :p

"Album Artist" tag is supposed to be for albums that have songs that are 'performed' by multiple artists, not for albums that have songs from different artists.
Yup, so for example you might have a track, "South Side" by Moby (featuring Gwen Stefani) and assign Album Artist as "Moby". It'll get files under Moby if you view the Album Artist tag, but it'll still find it if you search for Gwen Stefani.
Another example is that I have "The Best of Geroge Harrison", where half the tracks are by "The Beatles", I'd like the Album Artist to be "George Harrison", but have the individual tracks also tagges as Beatles tracks.
It is useful, but it's definitely not intended for "multiples" in the way you want it. (Me too).

You all crack me up at least, thanks for the chuckles!
Conditional thievery is just something people do in order to justify whatever they are doing unlawfully. Downloading and cracking the Adobe suite? HIGH FIVE! Breaking into a car dealership and driving off with a car you didn't pay for? NO of course not! Because 'that's different' when it isn't. A company offers a product/service and you are using it/taking it without compensation for that item. Digital or physical it's the same thing.
The funniest are the OSS/Linux advocates who claim that "piracy isn't theft" and "it doesn't hurt anyone" and then whine like a baby when someone "violates" the GPL and call for stern measures (such as lawsuits) against the violater.
Hey, if no one is hurt when you do it then no one is hurt when someone does it to you.

So do we keep waiting for updated Macbooks and Macbook Pro's or not?
Yeah I'm wondering the same.
Every manufacturer and their mother has announced Core 2 Duo portables, and most of them consumer models too. Sheesh, I mean there are Core 2 Duo tablets, if they can do that, Apple can do bloody MacBooks.

Has anyone considered that apple might not be realeasing the wide screen super secret video ipod because it dosn't exist?
lets all think for a second...
1) touch screens are weak, soft, and matte, not iPod at all
2) they get printy and scratched very easily
3) they would go through oodles of batter power
4) Apple would not make the thing bigger just to hold the extra battery
5) battery life would STINK
6) touch screen starts to complicate the interface, goes against apple's easy as pie rule
7) the thing would have to cost a fortune
please dont kill me, but does anyone have proof, or is it just a dream of perfection?
p.s. does anyone know if they will webcast the event?

We always said that if Apple's arbitrary, inconsistent, and quite frankly baffling approval process didn't get straightened out soon, the defections were going to pick up pace -- and what do we have here? Joe Hewitt, the developer of the well-loved and highly regarded Facebook iPhone app, has flipped the script and rejected the App Store. And, as you'd expect, our man is not mincing his words, stating that his "decision to stop iPhone development has had everything to do with Apple's policies," and that he's "philosophically opposed to the existence of their review process." While Hewitt can't comment on specific future projects (he's still at Facebook, but the app itself has been handed off to another developer) he has mentioned that he'll be devoting his time to web development for mobile devices. As you know, there is no approval process for the world wide web (which is apparent if you've spent any time on Geocities back in the day). Way to give 'em hell, Joe!Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/12/facebook-app-developer-rejects-app-store-irony-ensues/).

Would they base MacWorld around something as simple as wireless this or that? It's got to be big, probably a new product. I'm still leaning towards the GPS thing. Garmin has already announced it will be at MacWorld with new software/product codenamed "Bobcat"

Maybe it's a portable in-car computer system touch screen tablet with the works, how amazing would that be! GPS, mp3, video, phone, etc etc.

haha...yeah, it is quite a bit of space. Left (21" HP f2105) and top middle (30" HP LP3065) are connected to a desktop PC that I use for work. I work from home and mess with a lot of spreadsheets and querying data so it's helpful having all the space to move stuff around. The vertical screen (24" HP2408h) is connected to my MBP via mini port to HDMI that I use mostly for personal use. The sad thing is I have a 3 or 4 more 21" screens in the closet. If I had the desk space I would hook them all up... :D
Could I have 6 or 7 of them :D jk.... I only want one :p... but not expecting you to give it to me

Monday is a civic holiday for me and my fellow Canadians.... I might check out the Apple store at the Eaton's Centre to 1) see if they are open, and 2) to see if they'll be broadcasting the keynote live! :)
The iPhone pictures to me look like a photoshop hack of a nano, I just got a SLVR myself a few months ago, but I'll be curious to see what the iPhone features are when(if?) it comes out at the WWDC.
haha yaaa yoo lmaoo
im canadian and im soo gonna check out the apple store, but yorkdale one.

Sorry, I don't think adding the Beatles is a big deal at all.
Not of itself no - but imo a remastered collection will sell millions. How many fans, old and new, will shell out again to hear them?

Man, Apple keeps getting lower and lower. First Walmart, now this?
The closest apple store to my town (population 48k) is over a hour away - we have two radio shacks. How is this low? an elitist much? This is great! - Ipad 2's are the same price everywhere, except AAFES where its $10 cheaper and tax free. - Now many people can save their hard earned money as gas approaches $4 a gallon under this administration. Besides some people have radio shack credit cards -and earn rewards. They may prefer to buy from there.
