What if you choose not to override loadView, let the view controller create the view, then put all of the other code in viewDidLoad?

I bought the uDac specifically for using with the iPad+camera kit. Since the new firmware, I also had to buy a T3hub ( not pictured)

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is normal, but I had some random add popup while on these forums - one of the "will scroll down on your screen with your scrolling" type. I have never received one of these on this forum before and am not sure if this is supposed to happen. Unfortunately I did not screen shot it or really read it other than to remember it had a lot of green and was some sort of "Rate this" ad.
is this supposed to happen periodically?

Hi Guys,
I tried doing as much research before hand before having to post here, but I just couldn't figure it out. So my friends Mac's hard drive crashed and she didn't back up anything so she lost all her music. I told her that technically she could still pull her music off of her iPhone 4. I was able to do it once but it was with a Windows based computer and a different iPod maybe 3-4 years ago. I know iTunes has changed a lot then too.
So what I'm asking is how do you access the iPod's hidden files to reach the music folders? On my Mac, I can't seem to even find where the iPod is if I'm not in iTunes. I know you're suppose to enable the iPod as an external hard drive, but in the latest iTunes (iTunes 10) I don't even see the option for that.
My last question is if the iPod or iPhone is formatted to a Mac machine, is it still possible to be able to access the hidden files on a windows based computer? (Windows 7 or Vista)
I found some people talking about certain apps I could download that would do it, but those apps usually can't locate my iPod Touch. Thanks for the help!
Unfortunately the iPod touch cannot be used as an external hard drive since it has no open file-system. You could try an app like senuti, but I do not know if that works on iPod touches

I've heard the CandyShell flakes and I'm not sure what it meant by that. Could someone explain/give me a picture?
Also, is the dock piece really that easy to break?

Go to the accounts preference panel. Select the user your want to edit and select edit. You will need to enter your password in the 'current password' field to unlock the other greyed out fields.
If you are editing the administrator account, you probably won't be able to change your short name. I'm not sure what you can do here, possibly create another administrator account and delete your old incorrect account. (AFTER copying all your user files and preferences to a backup disk).
If that doesn't work, reinstall your system and build everything from scratch.
There may be a way to edit your info in Net-Info database, but I wouldn't know how to do that.

i want to get a external HD to work with my 27" imac that i purchased last summer.
should i get one with Thunderbolt technology?
Also, would i hook this external up through my router or directly to the imac
neither of which have the thunderbolt connection port....
so, i'm wondering if there's any advantage getting one with TB
thanks for your thoughts

I've just checked, it has a power cable and RCA audio output cables. Sorry if i'm being slow but i'm not completely confident with 'line level.' Does it mean that I can plug it into a home stereo? :)
Yes, provided your home stereo has RCA input jacks (usually labeled AUX). The input from these jacks will be amplified by your home stereo and played at normal volume through the stereo's speakers.

Still probably a good idea to make sure that you actually installed 64 bit.
32 bit just can't address thar much RAM because some of the 4GB address space is taken up by hardware. 2 GB is a bit extreme, but possible.

I did a search for this and didn't see much in the way of hits, especially anything that is new.
For some odd reason when I was moving my mp3s over to my Mac from my old PC hard drive I thought everything was fine. Only until I was in the car looking for a song did I realize albums were missing! I was hoping to find a recommended application that will not only let you record what albums you have, but also sync with iTunes and identify the gaps.
A quick search yielded two solutions:
Collectorz Music Application - http://www.collectorz.com/music/
CDPedia - http://www.bruji.com/cdpedia/
I'm not sure that the Collectorz solution allows identification of CDs not in iTunes, but perhaps I missed something.
Does anybody have feedback on either of these? Others that I may have missed?

It's fine to run on AC power when you need to. Just don't do it all the time, as your battery needs to be used periodically to stay healthy. Try to run on battery for a few hours every few days. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

Yes because the "problematic disk" work fine on other devices.
Looks like it was a Roxio issue. The files played fine when i burned them from the smart burn folder.
You can get dodgy discs anywhere. I buy DVD blanks (and CDs) by the 1000 for work so I see an occasional bad one. No biggy. Reburn.

No standalone device.
Internet still sucks on it.
Same crappy display.
Garage Band = Boring.
Photo Booth = Boring.
Learn to spell. It's knew.
If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Remember when iOS 4.0 pissed of some iPhone 3G's owners cuz of battery life and bad performance? Steve Jobs already promised that iOS 4.1 will fix it but it didn't please all users so here comes iOS 4.2. Guys over TiPb ran a performance test on iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2.

I have a 20" imac G5 that I'm been using as is with the the bluetooth keybard and mouse for the past year. I've recently been wanting to do more and do it better with my system and so I've made two purchases off of amazon.com that I'm hoping will help me out with that. I picked up the sounsticks II for 80.00 (93.00 I think after shipping) and the Logitech MX 1000 for 50.00.
Everyone seems to speak pretty highly of these two things and I guess I'm just nervous because as a college student I don't have a ton of loose cash laying around and I'm really hoping these will perform to my expectations. I'm a filmmaker and so I regularly use final Cut Pro. I'm hoping the speakers will help me to make better sound mixes that are of a higher quality and will stand up when I put them on a true surround sound system. also I want some good speakers for itunes....I never was before, but thanks to the itunes store, I'm in love with music. As for the mouse, it just sounded so much cooler than the single button bluetooth I'm using now and amazon had a good price. I'll be using that for Poser. I do storyboards and animatics with it and I was also hoping to start learning Maya or some other 3d program.
Anyway, anyone care to reaffirm these purchases? I've read all of the positive testimonies on the other threads, but I just have to hear it again for my own peace of mind....

This ad is also an issue on the iPhone. It renders reading articles on mac rumors impossible.
IDK what control you have over ads (you = Arn / gods), but I suggest removing that one from the pool. Or contacting the company and telling them to make a less annoying ad lest they be boycotted out of spite for it.
Edit: Found an acceptable workaround... Hit the loading X when the progress bar is somewhere between 70 and 90%... the articles should be loaded but not the ads or side columns with the links.

I would also suggest getting MenuMeters; it's an application that shows the specs of your system in the menu bar so you can always know what's going on with the system.
Another app is smbFanControl; it allows you to control the minimum speed of the fans and also has an option to show the speed at the top bar as well.
thank you this was the kind of answer i was looking for thanks again.
