If I go get 32GB white iPhone4 and don't want to extend my contract, what will it cost me? Where is the best place to do so?

Well, if it's 120KB, then why are you submitting it as an entry? The limit is 40KB.
And get Adobe Illustrator to work out those GIF compression settings. Experiment around in there for about 15 minutes, then get serious.
EDIT: Just read the below post, I meant ImageReady.

If I recall correctly, that system has 64-bit, 33MHz PCI slots, not PCI-X. I believe the first machine to have PCI-X was the 1.8GHz G5.

Definitely the 2011 model. It is much faster than the 2010 model, especially when it comes to the 13". There is no dedicated video card, but if you want to play games you should go with a 15" anyway. Also, you get the Thunderbolt port.
There won't be any games on this laptop. My main concern is that I want to be able to watching streaming sports with no problem. I live in Michigan and they don't televise any PA sports. When I was watching the Masters on my laptop, it was buffering every other minute. Total PITA.

I want the ringer loud for phone calls, but the message alert is too damn loud. anyway to set the volume on text message alerts?
Some of the alert sounds that you can use are a little quieter by nature than others. Maybe go through them and see if you can find one that is a little less obtrusive? Hope this helps! :)

Heh, I wrote the referenced blogpost. I can't remember anymore what was the source of Apple changing the engraving, but it wasn't from personal experience, could well have been just someone joking.

I dont see why they wont have FM radio on the 4G.... unless they want it to be unique to the Nano only.... but it would help compete against Zune....

I am currently JB on 4.2.1 and used tiny umbrella on the same day when 4.3 was released. My saved SHSH's show the following for 4.3.
iPad 4.3b2
iPad 4.3b3
iPad 4.3gm
I assume the last line is indicating goldmaster, however, does this mean I can update to 4.3?
Thanks

I've used both the ae.tuts and lynda sites. Both are also very good.
I'd suggest starting off (perhaps for a single months membership) with Lynda - they've got some very good basic courses (with exercise files) to get the fundamentals sorted in a structured way and then you can start 'playing' with the ae.tuts site.
I've always really rated the Greyscale Gorilla (http://greyscalegorilla.com/blog/) blog by a chap called Nick - very 'real world' tuts. All free.

IIRC, the difference in performance between the 2.8GHz and the 3.2GHz CPUs only gave around 10% difference in performance. With the cost and hassle of attempting an upgrade would not be worth it.
You would be much better served by upgrading your memory, GPU or replacing your system drive with an SSD.
Which upgrades are needed (if any) depends on your circumstances and the current configuration of your system. Adding an SSD would likely give you the most bang for the buck over any CPU upgrade in your system.

Does the M R stand for MacRumors? Not sure what the E 6 means? The picture looks like the Quicktime icon over a AirPort Base Station.
You seem to be a kidder with Mudbug. He should feel privileged that you took the time and effort to do a word play on him.

im talking GPU (vs hd 3000)
processor isnt everything
Great, the GPU is also better!
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1102927
Even if it wasn't, it wouldn't be any worse, as that would be ridiculously stupid of Apple and, to my knowledge, they've never come out with a computer that had a less capable GPU than the previous model (though they have come out with computers that had a GPU only marginally more capable). Provided the two GPUs were very close, the i5 is going to make the difference.
Do your research first. I know the CPU isn't everything, but it's a bigger step up than the GPU, which is why I mentioned it.

So, I just got home from the St. Louis Apple Store with my brand-new 15" powerbook. Not sure if I count as a switcher or not, been using Macs for years at work but never have owned one. (Main desktop at home is an Athlon.)
Pretty sweet machine. I was torn between the 12 and 15, but I went with the 15. Looking at the machines in the store the 12 looked kind of cramped, the 15 screen huge in comparison.
Anyway I am one of those who has been waiting all summer to get a revved powerbook and thus have I become a macrumors reader. So all I can say is, aahhhhh.
Also this is my first real experience with osx, at work I am still stuck on 9.
A question: does airport extreme play pretty nicely with non-airport based wifi base stations? Anyone have a recommendation? I'll need something with an ethernet port for my desktop as well. (I'm a total newbie to wifi.)

Gosh I hope not. It's less than a year old.
Well, if it's less than a year old, it should be under warranty. Better it breaks now, than at the start of Month 13...!
