Mreh.... I would never use half of those, and I use alternatives for most of the others. I'd say you'd need SideTrack, CopyPaste, MenuMeters, and some of Unsanity's stuff.

Install iStat Pro (http://www.islayer.com/apps/istatpro/) to get accurate readings of your temps, among other things.
Thanks, anything to stress test with though?

only the normal files will be restored, not jailbreak stuff.
I'm using a file viewer right now and unfortunately my backup contains a lot of files like /cydia.packages.txt and such. Is there anything out there that will let me delete specific files from a backup on my computer (OS X)?

I personally use the Spyder2 Pro (version 3 is current version) which calibrates the monitor as well as printers through printing of IT-8 color charts that you then measure with the included colorimeter.
That package cost me around $500 (currently goes for $539 - http://spyder.datacolor.com/product-pp-s3studiosr.php), but if you need just monitor calibration, that goes for $169 (http://spyder.datacolor.com/product-mc-s3pro.php).
Pantone Huey Pro is also another monitor calibrator that seems to have gotten relatively good reviews and is around $100 (http://www.pantone.com/pages/products/product.aspx?pid=562&ca=2).
There's also X-Rite Eye-One (http://www.pantone.com/pages/products/product.aspx?pid=108&ca=2) and is on sale for $199 right now.

How does it run snow leopard? Is it fairly smooth and usable? I'm just concerned about CPU. I'll be upgrading the HDD's, Ram and GPU.
It runs as well as it did the day I got it. And as support is added to make better use of the multi cores it should last for quite some time.

Letting Android users access the iTunes music store would actually be a very good idea for Apple.
If that happens I will be amazed. Android is so fragmented and un-secure, Apple would not release anything related to it. Im not saying that I wouldn't welcome iTunes for Android but I just cant see it ever happening.

Ok, I had a thread about my slower Dell Inspiron 1545 , which I have no idea why it began to break down after only a year. I stated that I may also be upgrading to a MacBook later this year, but my question is , will an external hard drive really be worth it, and will it help keep up the speed and performance of my machines, possibly fixing this damn dell.

Connect the iPad to computer...when iTunes shows your iPad...in the sync options...go to the app section as stated above...there is a checkbox that says "sync all new apps" (or something like that) ...check that box... That will bring the apps you purchased or downloaded on the iPad over to iTunes on your computer where you can manage them, and therefore NOT delete them on the iPad.
Since you haven't done this yet, iTunes thinks you want to mirror what's on the computer to the iPad instead of vice versa.
Hope that made some sense.

My new ibook does that too. You don't have a dvd burner, that's why. It has no need for the blank media so it spits it out.
p.s. my ibook it the last rev, obviously the one in my sig.

I'd probably just get the new GPU. a 5770 or 5870 will play games like a champ, and is a ton cheaper than a new computer.
5770 is the way to go for your MP. The 5870 costs much more and provides virtually no extra benefit in the MP 1.1.

Hello,
I got a Macbook air for work. I loaded backup from my imac via time machine onto this macbook air so both computers have exact same files. When I goto work with macbook air, the content for air would be newer than imac.
I am wondering whether there is a way for air to sync with imac so that both computers are at the newest status without me needing to backup air with time machine, then load the latest version backup to imac.
If so it would be very helpful as keeping 2 or more computers at the same status is a very difficult task.
Thanks!

Miss the old typefaces, namely this one, Apple Garamond.
Ahhh, the amusing thing is that its still used on corporate notepaper (at least if you look at the letter sent after the lost-iPhone-4 calamity - its right there in Apple Garamond).

i got what you were asking confused.. you just need to change the position from absolute to "position: fixed" and that will keep it in the browser window no matter your scrolling..the jquery will just animate an object.

For the past few months I've been experiencing a weird noise coming from my mac. It sounds like a fan is running, then it stops, then it starts up again, and it's fairly loud.. and annoying. It sounds like a slight skipping/scuffing sound. It used to be a very quiet machine.
Well yesterday I put a dvd in to watch a movie. And it started to pause then play, then pause again. Then it froze. So I turned off the computer and took out the dvd manually and tried starting it up again, and the mac turned on, but my monitor stayed blank.
I haven't experienced any weird freezing or lag before this, so I'm wondering if it's a HD issue?
The monitor is plugged in as well as everything else. The mac just won't start up. There's power going to it, because it does turn on, but it doesn't start the OS. Nothing loads, not even the mac jingle that usually plays.
Oh also, the power light doesn't come on (I do have a colored usb cable that lights up, proving there's power at least going to the machine).
I'm dreading that it's a hard drive failure.
Any help is much appreciated :)

I plan on running Windows via VMWare or Parallels on my MBP and I heard that Windows 7 requires more CPU to virtualize, I am just wondering if it's true, and if so, is it significant?
I will be running the virtualization probably constantly so I want to avoid anything that might slow down OSX. I hear 7 is the best choice for Boot Camp though, so I'm torn.
Any insight would be appreciated :)
